Not Sure

I really want to try this out, but I'm just not sure if it'll work on me. I'm mixed with black and white and have a light skin tone. I was wondering if anyone knew of someplace I could get a trial. I absolutely hate hair anywhere except my head!

Yes, I Recommend This Product.

Great on the legs

This Venus Silk-expert worked great on my legs. I used this and now I do not have to shave. My legs are smooth and soft after six weeks of treatment. I also used this on my bikini area and underarms several times. I did not like the product for this usage. It was painful and felt as if I was being burned. I followed the directions as stated saw no results. I would not recommend this for use on the bikini area and underarms. I did not try this on my face because I was afraid it would give the burning sensation that felt on my bikini and underarm area. I would definitely recommend this for legs, stay away from the bikini and underarm area though. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

First Time was Easy

I just tried my Venus Silk Expert for the first time and it was super easy to use. I had had professional hair removal done on one area a few years back and it was painful so I was a little worried about being able to do this myself but it went super smooth (no pun intended!). The extra long cord allowed me to reach all areas (I did my arms, underarms and legs), and the actual device was so easy. Unless the head was in full contact with the skin, it didn't go off. Once I got the hang of it, as far as placing the head in the right spot with the right amount of pressure, it went quick. I used the "sensitive" switch this time around and you could feel the laser but it wasn't painful.

Good result and easy to use

First let me give you some basic info of myself. I'm Asian, have light/pale skin (I don't like the sun and don't like to get tanned), my hair is black, which makes it more obvious when I don't shave. Yep, black hair on pale skin stands out too much. I've always wanted to try IPL laser hair removal, but you know, it's a bit pricy. My usual hair removal method is that I use an epilator for my underarms, and I shave my legs. The reason why I don't use an epilator on my legs is because it gives me unwanted ingrown hair almost every time I do. When I receive Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert, I was so excited to try it. The instruction is pretty clear, you remove your unwanted body hair first using whatever method you like (razor, epilator), and then you use Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert. This machine is aesthetically pleasing, easy to hold, and not too bulky to travel with. Personally I don't think it hurts at all, it's like a very very slight pinch sensation, but you can always turn it down or select the gentle mode. It's not the easiest to use this device on very small areas such as fingers/knuckles or toes, but I still managed to get it done, just takes a bit longer. I used it for 8 weeks (you're recommended to do this once a week), I can't say it's perfect and that it got rid of all of my unwanted hair. However, I think it's helping my hair grow slower and finer. I also have very sensitive skin but have never gotten any bad reactions from using this device, I was worried that it'd irritate my skin, but no, my skin has been fine and smooth. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's interested in IPL hair removal, it's easy to use, you can do it while watching your favorite show, or while listening to your favorite podcast. I will continue to use this, and hopefully I can permanently say good bye to unwanted hair. *I received this product for free from Braun to test and review. Shout out to Braun for offering this opportunity to try out this cool little machine. *The picture shows the result of not shaving for 8 weeks while using this machine. Progress after 4 weeks

I have a very fair complexion and very dark brown hair, which means, not only do I have (quite visible) unwanted hair that needs removal, but I'm also a good candidate for IPL. Before this campaign I was not aware that IPL required a certain amount of differentiation between skin and hair color in order for it to work (if your hair is too light or your skin too dark, this is not for you.) So my fair skin was perfect for this, or so it seemed. I also found out that this is not intended to work over moles or other colorations of the skin, which I consider myself a pretty freckled and mole covered person. My forearms are so riddled with freckles that I discounted them immediately. Instead opting for my bikini line. Now, because of my complexion, the light is able to work at it's highest setting, and I must say the first time I used it, I was rather surprised how much I could feel it! It doesn't exactly hurt, but it definitely stings a little (especially on rather sensitive skin) and I find I have to turn it down to the medium-intensity setting. Because of the location, I have found manually moving to each spot and clicking the button each time is easier than a fluid motion, but have not tested this on a larger area like my legs. I have noticed a faint burning smell the last few times I used it, which I suppose means it's working... but it's not the most pleasant.I used it once a week for 4+ weeks and have noticed that the hair does perhaps come in a little slower each time and is maybe not as full as it once was. It by no means has replaced my shaving entirely, but I'm hopeful that it could, if I kept up with the process.I'm glad I was able to give IPL a try as I've always been curious, but was saddened to find out my freckled skin was not the best candidate. Plus, because of my moles, I am always worried about skin cancer and I have to admit I have some concerns over the safety of such devices.Overall, I like the product and will continue to use it for several more weeks to see if I can get the area to have a more permanent reduction of hair growth. If you are considering buying one, I recommend the you read up on the product first and determine that your area and skin/hair types are a good candidate before shelling out the rather high cost. Four treatments in!

I've now used the Venus Silk-expert four times, and am very pleased with the initial results. Even though it's supposed to take 12 weeks, I've noticed a reduction in hair growth already. In the past I'd shave twice a week, now I can really just do it once, right before I use the IPL. I've focused primarily on the underarm and bikini areas, and am finding it simpler to use than the first time and therefore faster. The hair on my legs is quite pale, and it takes a long time to go over such a large area thoroughly, so I've concentrated on the annoying parts to shave, in particular the ankles. I'll definitely keep it up! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My review Gillette Venus Silk-expert

I cannot tell you how excited I was to be chosen for this BzzCampaign. I was born with fair skin and dark body hair, the worst combination, and have wanted to try laser hair removal since I first heard about it years ago. So here is my initial report on my very first use of the Gillette Venus Silk-expert. On day 1, I did a test patch on my upper thigh to make sure I would not have any adverse reactions. I let the device linger just a second or two too long on the first spot I placed it, which hurt a bit, like touching a hot stove for a split second. But in the 24 hour time period afterwards I did not see any reactions to worry about. Day 2, I started my day off with a shower that included shaving my legs, stomach, and armpits, the areas I wanted to treat. I started with my legs, using long, slow strokes up my leg while pressing the on button continually. Then I used the short pulse method on my stomach and armpits, which were smaller areas to treat. It took about 30 minutes altogether. Now that I had the hang of it, I did not have that burning sensation at any point on day 2. I did notice that if there were areas where I did not shave adequately, I smelled a burning hair smell when I went over those areas. This was unpleasant, but bearable. My only concern was that the instructions say that you should not look directly at the product while it's in use, but they also tell you not to go over the same area twice and to avoid using it on moles, freckles, and birthmarks. I found it hard to do both of those things at the same time. I'm wondering it it might be worthwhile to invest in some sort of eye protection, as even the light that escapes from the sides of the device while in use is quite bright. I'm curious to see what other BzzAgents thought about this. I am also curious to see how much hair returns when I prepare for my second treatment this weekend.

Easy Peasy

This was an easy tool to set up and use. The new Gillette Venus Silk-expert powered by Braun was ready to use after attaching a two cords and I was off. The fact that it can sense my skin tone and adjust the heat to the right temp was impressive. It was not too hot and the instructions were simple. Make sure you shave and you are off to the races. Simply depress the button and let the tool do the rest. I am excited to see results in the upcoming weeks.

Here we go!

After a few weeks the epic battle or Venus Silk-expert and my leg hair... is still being won by my leg hair. But I think I am beginning to see progress. After pages of warnings I wondered what i was getting into! But I am having no problem using the device and for once having pasty white skin and wiry dark hair is playing to my advantage!
